The charity fundraising efforts of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) distributor Brammer have been boosted to the tune of more than pound;2,000 thanks to one of the company’s Cardiff employees and two representatives from one of Brammer’s supply partners.
Brammer’s target is to raise pound;100,000 by April 2009 for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, the charity which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. The company is well over three-quarters of the way there, having already presented the charity with cheques totalling pound;75,000.
Anthony McGivern of Brammer’s Cardiff Sales Service Centre completed the recent Great North Run, held in Gateshead, from where he originally hails, in two hours and 40 minutes – highly creditable given that it was his first attempt at the half-marathon distance and that he was wearing a pink dress!
Meanwhile, Dean Askew and Mat Sawyer of Timken, for which Brammer is a major distributor, raised some pound;1,800 for Make-AWish Foundation UK, both crossing the line in one hour 47 minutes.
Anthony McGivern commented: “I’d watched the Great North Run when I lived in the area and always said I would give it a go one day. I got a few wolf whistles but it was worth it!”
