Pacamor Kubar Bearings (PKB, USA; privately held) announced it has received new quality and manufacturing certifications.
Founded in the mid-1960's, Pacamor Kubar's home office and manufacturing plant are located in Rensselaer Technology Park in Troy, NY.
In addition to the existing ISO 9001:2000 certification, PKB recently added AS9100:2004 and FAA TSO-C149 for its entire DFARS-compliant product line of precision miniature and instrument bearings, in both inch and metric sizes. The company's Chris Lake is also an FAA authorized Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR).
PKB manufactures various types of precision ball bearings -- primarily miniature and instrument bearings, but also precision industrial bearings and specialty bearings -- in inch and metric sizes and up to ABEC 9 precision. The company also produces duplex ball bearings.
Standard balls are 440C stainless or ceramic; instrument bearings use titanium carbide coated 440C stainless as standard. All bearings can be specified open, with seals or shields and with various retainer materials. More common variations with flanges, clips, snap rings, etc. are also available.
PKB's target markets beyond military and aircraft/aerospace include satellites, electric motors, plotters, position indicators, laser positioning systems, servo mechanisms, electric tools and even fly casting reels. A particular focus lately has been the dental and surgical handpiece market, where its 300+ bearing and drive ring applications are gradually gaining market share.
