Climax metal Products Inc. has acquired Cleveland Sales Co. and Congress Drives LLC. Clesco acquired Congress Pulleys in 2003.
Climax, founded in 1947, is a key manufacturer of shaft collars and rigid couplings for PT OEM and MRO -- one-piece, two-piece, threaded or setscrew. The company also produces keyless hub locking assemblies. Climax, located in Wickliffe, Ohio, is the United States' only major ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer of shaft collars and rigid couplings.
Founded in 1930, Clesco manufactures and distributes bearings and power transmission components, bushings, tools and abrasives, and zinc and aluminum diecast pulleys. Clesco's home office and plant is now just east of Cleveland in Willoughby, Ohio; the Congress Drives pulley operation is a 75,000 square foot facility south of Dallas in Ennis, Texas.
Clesco is primarily known for its pillow blocks, 2-bolt and 4-bolt flange units and sleeve bearings. All of the mounted units are offered in die cast or pressed steel, with ball bearings, bronze bushings, or UMHW-PE sleeve bearings.
Chris Curran, Climax President, said: "The addition of Clesco strengthens Climax's position as a leading manufacturer and marketer of shaft collars, rigid couplings, and other power transmission products, including diecast pulleys."
In addition to pulleys, Clesco's Congress Drives has its own lineup of prelubricated pillow blocks and flange units, pulleys and drive couplings. The other operation, Tools and Abrasives, manufactures and sells products such as mandrels, arbors, stop collars and tenon centers.
