The American firm Waukesha Bearings Corporation has chosen a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) grade to produce its latest range of thrust bearings used for wet wound heater lift pumps.

In fact the new bearing commercialized under the trade name Hiperax™ are made from Victrex® PEEK 450FC30 supplied by Victrex, a material that exhibits high tribological properties. The Hiperax™ bearings can support loads of up to 8 MPa whilst running continuously in water at 65°C. Furthermore they retain their good properties after three years of continuous use.
