The Koyo Bearings Europe Ltd. (UK) plant in Dodworth, Barnsley, Yorkshire was evacuated when an unexploded bomb was unearthed by workers digging a foundation.
Unexploded WWII ordnance, the bomb was identified as an armor piercing round.
A British army bomb disposal team was called in to deal with the device, which was found to have no explosive charge.
Portions of the plant had to be evacuated for approximately three hours.
Established in 1990, the Koyo factory is located in the former Dodworth Colliery. Dodworth manufactures wheel bearing hub assembly units, double-row angular contact bearings, water pump bearings, tapered roller bearings, single-row ball bearings, and pulley bearings.
