Greenbrier Cos. of Lake Oswego, Ore., said today it has acquired substantially all the operating assets of Roller Bearing Industries of Elizabethtown, Ky., from SKF USA.
Roller Bearings, a leading supplier of reconditioned bearings for the rail industry for nearly 30 years, has about 50 employees at the Elizabethtown plant. Greenbrier is a leading provider of reconditioned rail wheel sets and has a network of 39 locations in the United States and Mexico for wheel replacement, replacement parts and railcar repair.
“The acquisition of RBI will ensure procurement of a key business component, strengthen our competitive position and expand our product offerings,” said Tim Stuckey, president of Greenbrier Rail Services, in a statement.
