Mini Plastics Bearing is Light and Resilient
Igus now offers a highly resilient, self-aligning plastics bearing with a wall thickness of just 3 mm which is a diameter half that of the standard model.
igus* Inc, the industry-leading developer of plastics cable carriers, bearings and continuous-flex cables, offers a highly resilient, self-aligning bearing with a wall thickness of just 3 mm. This little plain plastics bearing is part of igus’ line of igubal* spherical bearings.
It requires minimal installation space and can be supplied immediately ex-stock. The self-aligning bearing is light and compact, requires no lubrication, is simple to install and adapts to all angular misalignments.
The housing and spherical ball liner absorb vibrations differently than steel: the rotational, swiveling and oscillating movements of the self-supporting shaft take place within the spherical cap, which has a dampening effect.
The plastics bearing housing is made of igumid G, an especially robust, reinforced polymer developed by igus. The internal, independently moving spherical ball is made of iglide* L280, which means a minimum coefficient of friction with the shaft.
iglide L280 is a highly wear resistant, long life polymer; suitable for even harsh environments and rough shafts.
igus reports that its high-performance plastics bearings are being used more and more in applications such as machine tools, handling equipment, laboratories and automation equipment. This trend is because the bearings are dry running and therefore maintenance-free. They do not require a seal even in extremely dirty environments, and they are corrosion-resistant in liquids and chemicals without exception.
