Portable Filter Lubricator Suits Field Use
Thorite's solution comprises a carry frame with a Norgren filter and lubrication units mounted to it.
Thorite has designed and produced a portable, frame-mounted filter lubricator to assist operators using air tools during outside working. The inspiration for the portable unit came from a demand by contractors carrying out maintenance on the railway network, who complained of suffering regular air tool malfunctions.
The cause of the breakdowns was identified by Thorite's engineers as a lack of protection from particulates produced by the compressor in the air upstream of the air tool, aggravated by a lack of lubrication.
Either of these situations on their own can cause premature wear and tool failure, but in combination problems were unavoidable.
Thorite's solution comprises a carry frame with a Norgren filter and lubrication units mounted to it.The inlet and outlet connections are standard claw couplings, commonly used in the construction industry, which allow for fast connection into the airline, plus equally speedy disconnection when the filter element or oil requires replacement.A number of the portable units are now in service, in some of the most demanding on site environments, with all users reporting a dramatic fall in air tool operation problems.
