Direct-Drive System Matrix from IDAM

Direct-Drive System Matrix from IDAM

Schaeffler subsidiary INA – Drives & Mechatronics (IDAM) has introduced a matrix of rotary direct-drive systems at the HMI 2007 in Hannover. The so-called RDDS Matrix (Rotary Direct Drive Systems) is comprised of a selection of direct-drive rotary tables, customized by IDAM for the semicon and productronics industries. The outside diameters of 160, 180 and 230 mm are covered with four section heights each. Peak moments range between 8.7 and 352 Nm. The clear benefits include compact design and easy installation.

The systems offer very high tilting moment load carrying capacity, rigidity and precision. Axial and radial runout of ±10µm is standard. In addition, RI series direct drives have excellent static and dynamic load rigidity as well as excellent synchronization properties. The rotary systems enable positioning without reverse clearance. The rotors are optimized for low inertia forces. In combination with the existing peak moments, this results in efficient and highly dynamic rotary tables with extremely high acceleration capacity and high speeds. The benefits are very short cycle times as well as free inner diameters between 36 and 116 mm, depending on the system size.

The rotary systems use optical incremental measuring systems with analogous 1Vss output signal. As an option, IDAM offers measuring systems with 3600 up to 24000 increments on the circumference. As standard, the rotary tables are fitted with an axial cable outlet underneath and a cable length of 1 meter. Customers can choose from different connection variants. Different screw fastening variants from above and from below (base and flange plate) can also be selected. Another option is cooling of the motors via a cooling jacket. This enables higher nominal moments. In future, the systems will also be supplied with a pneumatic brake.
