SKF Launches Spindle Service in China

SKF Launches Spindle Service in China

SKF Precision Machinery Shanghai Co. Ltd. (a division of SKF AB, Sweden) has begun operating as a Spindle Service Center in Shanghai, China.

The operation is the first of its kind for SKF in China, the world's fastest-growing market for machine tool sales and service.

While it may be a first for China, SKF Spindle Service operates the world's largest network of machine tool spindle reconditioning and upgrading resources. SSCs handle all damage levels, from bearing replacement to restoration of a damaged tool's nose and/or shaft.

SSC got its start simply as some SKF bearing plants began making internal spindle service expertise available to external customers. It has now grown into a global business concept, involving detailed refurbishment procedures, acceptance criteria, highly specialized equipment, adapted business processes, and knowledge sharing systems.

Worldwide, SKF said it reconditions and upgrades many thousands of horizontal and vertical machine tool spindles -- belt driven or motorized -- each year for outside customers. SKF also continues to maintain all the spindles for its own bearing manufacturing equipment, although this is still often done at in-plant facilities unavailable to external customers.

With the addition of China, SKF now operates SCCs in Austria, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, the UK and the United States. On the web here.
