Weimer Bearing & Transmission Inc. (USA) has acquired industrial distributor Camken Inc.
The acquisition, adding Camken's operation in Rockford, Illinois, expands Weimer's presence across Wisconsin and into northern Illinois.
Founded by Hugo Weimer in 1920, the company distributes a wide variety of bearings, power transmission and industrial supplies. It now operates seven locations: in Wisconsin, the company headquarters in Menomonee Falls, a Milwaukee suburb; Green Bay / DePere; Appleton / Kaukauna; Madison / Sun Prairie; Wausau / Schofield; and Eau Claire / Chippewa Valley; in Illinois, its base has been in Rockford.
In February 2003, Weimer opened an operation north of Rockford in Machesney Park. It is being consolidated with the existing Camken facility and home office further south into Rockford. And Camken has been renamed slightly to Weimer-Camken, keeping the corporate relationship clear but avoiding confusion for Camken's existing customers.
After the acquisition, Weimer now employs approximately 75 people.
