SKF will attend at the AusRAIL railway exhibition, Nov. 17 - 19, 2003 in Sydney, Australia to present their new railway service capabilities.
The new services result from SKF acquiring, in May 2003, the leading railway bearing service company in Australia, Rolling Stock Supply & Service Pty Ltd, (RSSS). The company is a major supplier of new and reconditioned wheel set bearings and axleboxes for railway rolling stock in the Australian, New Zealand and Asian markets.
The new SKF unit, RSSS, has invested in two new workshop facilities in Melbourne (Victoria) and Brisbane (Queensland) and will build a new workshop in Perth (Western Australia) in 2004. The 3 new facilities will give the opportunity to further increase the high level of service to end user customers as well as to rolling stock builders.
At the exhibition and the conference the company will present the SKF Compact TBU, tapered bearing unit, concept to the Australian railway industry. This compact design offers new opportunities to achieve lower life cycle cost and to improve further performance and safety. SKF is the leading rolling bearing supplier to the world railway industry, providing a full assortment of bearing related products and services for all types of railway vehicles such as freight cars, locomotives, multiple units and high speed vehicles.
