Micro Allegiant Air to expand its services again, this time with a focus on the East Coast.
Las Vegas-based airline on Tuesday announced that it is to add 10 new airports, including the New York metropolitan area far side of the two services. It also adds flights Portsmouth, New Hampshire, about an hour north of Boston.
These markets represent a slight leisure and entertainment-focused airline, flies mostly sunny holiday destination from a small, underserved urban departure. Allegiant now 99 airports across the country, more than two Southwest Airlines, the nation's largest carriers to provide services. The Allegiant, however, generally only fly twice a week, while the southwest region has multiple daily flights to most cities.
Last year, 7 million people in the Allegiant flying. This is a sliver of the domestic flights, including 1,340,000 Southwest 642 million.
