Erdogan defends riot police tactics in Turkey protests

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan piled several weeks behind ridicule activists protest against his government at a rally on Sunday and the defense of the riot police water cannons into the crowd launched in Istanbul one day earlier.

"People see the game from the outset, and frustration, they (the protesters) think that people will say what they say we will burn and destroy and do what we want, but people will do anything," he said. "
Erdogan called on Sunday's mass rally since protests began an unprecedented challenge, his 10-year reign in Istanbul is the fifth.

Erdogan, who won 50 percent support rate in 2011 for the third consecutive election, sees himself as a champion of democratic reform, and has outraged protests and international condemnation mainly from major trading partners, Germany.
Saturday after the clash, thousands of protesters gathered in Istanbul's Taksim Square, adjacent to each park, remember three protesters and one policeman, who died in an earlier protest. Many people refused to leave, ask the police to disperse them.
Erdogan defended tactical police, who also fired tear gas canisters dispersed protesters in the streets nearby cat and mouse conflict.

Around 4,900 protesters have been detained, 4,000 protesters and 600 police officers were injured, the report added.
Interior Ministry also said that the protests have caused 140 million liras (about 7.2 billion U.S. dollars) worth of public buildings and vehicles damaged.
