ERT, its labor costs over the past three years has been greatly trimmed mandatory contributions by all Greeks - regardless of whether they have a TV or not - by advertising revenue. Fiscal years after dark, the company is now turning profit, critics argue that dismissal of its entire workforce makes financial sense, especially as the state budget will have to bear all the costs of compensation for laid-off workers.
ERT closed on June 11 outside the company's headquarters in Athens to protest triggered days, foreign sharp criticism.
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the European Broadcasting Union has been backed up by the ERT employees are being broadcast online streaming, and Amnesty International also condemned the shutdown.
EBU Director General Ingrid Deltenre, speaking at the European Parliament on Thursday, sharply criticized the actions Samaras.
"Suddenly decided to close the ERT ... actually not save any money to the country," she said. "ERT from the license fee-funded citizen. ERT produce a small surplus. Channel is not bankrupt."
The High Court has approved the ERT closed, but condemned the closure of the signal, this week issued a temporary ruling. Burning ERT employees protested outside the center of Athens court judge Thursday meeting, to reach their final decision.
