Vietnam Saigon Economic Times reported on August 16, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued a notice to the decision to apply for automatic import licensing imports of some steel products since September 20. Products involved included Haiguanshuihao: 7209. 7210,7211,7212,7214 and 7306 cold-rolled steel products and steel.
Reported that the first half of this year, Vietnam's steel production was 4.637 million tons, down 3.4 percent, especially construction steel decreased 11 percent, steel down 4%. However, due to reduced purchasing power, some steel products, inventories amounted to 40%. Over the same period, imports of steel products amounted to 5.7 million tons, 4.22 billion U.S. dollars year-on-year increase of 17% and 15% respectively.
