The statement said the United States expressed concern at the escalation of tension of the situation in the South China Sea, is closely tracking the development of the situation. Confrontational speech in the recent development of the situation, resource development differences, coercive economic action, including the use of obstacles prevented from entering around Huangyan Island incident escalating, especially China, to enhance the three Shashi administrative level, the disputed area in the South China Sea to establish a new garrison move contrary to resolve their differences through diplomatic cooperation, and further exacerbate tensions in the region to upgrade the risk.
 
The statement said the United States in the South China Sea territorial disputes does not choose sides in team, there is no territorial ambitions, but the United States believe that the countries of the region through cooperation and diplomatic efforts to resolve their differences, and should not be forced, intimidation, threats and the use of force.
 
The statement said, to establish clear rules of procedure of peaceful settlement of disputes, the United States has encouraged the ASEAN countries and China on the final completion of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea to make meaningful progress. In this context, the United States supports the six principles that ASEAN has recently reached the South China Sea.
