Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned the West to take unilateral action against Syria, but he said that Russia "does not exclude" to support UN resolutions punitive military strike, if it proves to Damascus to use poison gas their own people.
Putin talked about the wide-ranging interview, the Associated Press and the Russian state-run television channel a Tuesday night at his residence outside Moscow.
It is the only one he previously granted G-20 summit in St. Petersburg, opened Thursday.
The summit was supposed to focus on the global economy, but now looks likely to be dominated by the international financial crisis on the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria civil war.
Putin expressed the hope that he and U.S. President Barack Obama will serious discussion in St. Petersburg.
