Malaysia Airlines said it was on track to become profitable by the end of next year because of its restructuring plan has gained momentum.
However, the airline three months to June recorded a second consecutive quarterly loss. Quarter net loss of 175.2 million ringgit (about $ 530,000), mainly due to foreign exchange losses, lower than a year earlier loss of 349 million ringgit ($ 106 million).
Operating income grew 12 percent to 360 million ringgit (about $ 110 million).
First half of 2013, the company's net loss decreased by 12.7% to 4.54 million ringgit ($ 1.38 million).
CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said on Wednesday that the company's on track to "create sustainable profitability is expected by the end of 2014."
