Firefighters struggle to contain the raging fire on Wednesday in Nairobi's jomo kenyatta international airport was shut down, witnesses and officials said.
On condition of anonymity Kenya's civil aviation administration officials say the fire started in the eastern Africa's busiest airport lounges and the spread of the international arrival area entry section, at about 5 PM (0200 GMT on Tuesday afternoon edt / 10:00).
"There is no aircraft departure or arrival will be allowed - only to make an emergency landing," the official said.
Less than 48 hours after the fire, at the airport delays caused great fuel injection pump failure, forcing some flights were re-routed to the airport to the coastal city of Mombasa, entebbe airport in Uganda, and in Rwanda Kigali international airport.
