McDonald's franchise promised to give employees more payment options, it was sued by a former employee, said she visited her wages from the debit card fee.
16 McDonald's restaurants in northeastern Pennsylvania employees will be given the option to pay by direct deposit or by check, company spokeswoman Christina Mueller Curran said Monday. They will continue to have the ability to use the payroll card.
"We want to act quickly," Curran said Muller. "Our staff is always our No. 1 priority."

"They're trying to soften the blow," she said. "Law already provides that they must give people a choice in the first place."
Gunshannon's lawyer Michael J. Cefalo said it would continue the lawsuit. He said the lawsuit seeks punitive damages, because the company "willfully violate state law that employees should be paid by cash or check.
