SKF has been awarded a contract with Guohua Energy Investment, a major Chinese energy company. SKF will supply 180 SKF WindCon systems for the monitoring of wind turbines in order to improve reliability maintenance for already existing turbines. Guohua Investment is also preparing for a new wind farm in Beijing and SKF has supplied 58 SKF WindCon systems to SEC, a major Chinese manufacturer that will supply the wind turbines.
Guohua wanted to improve the reliability and reduce the maintenance cost in its present wind farm. SKF WindCon will enable maintenance decisions based on the actual machine conditions, providing the opportunity to perform necessary inspection and repair work during planned turbine stops.
- Last year SKF was chosen to participate in a pilot project supplying SKF WindCon online condition monitoring systems for three of our planned wind farms. Being successful in that project, we have continued to work with SKF in making our maintenance more effective, says Weihua Zhou, VGM of Operation Manager, Guohua Investment.
- We are very pleased to sign this contract with Guohua Investment since the wind industry is an important market for us and a growing segment in China. SKF has over the years developed well defined remote diagnostic processes for many industries, such as wind energy, which enable us to reduce the operating cost for our customers, says Vartan Vartanian, President, SKF Service Division.
